Rotating must-see group shows highlighting the best of CNY art.
Blake Studio & Art Gallery will not be reopening. This decision is 100% the impact of COVID-19 and the uncertainty that it creates in the future. The gallery was a small room that relied on events to be sustainable. Events filled that small room with wonderful art-loving people in a way that does not allow for safe social distancing.
The gallery was only open for a blip in time, however, a small but mighty portion of the community embraced it. It was working, growing, and held promise. (I may even revisit the idea in the future.) I loved curating the group shows. I loved working with so many extraordinary local artists, many whose work I had admired from afar for years beforehand. It was a dream.
Thanks to the artists: Anthony Beckham, Kevin Burke, Steven Cerio, Marika Chew, Arthur Hutchinson, Anne Lahr, Christy Lemp, Sandy Shutter, Sally Stormon. I hope we keep in touch and continue to find ways to work with one another. Also many thanks to Marvin Borst, Angela Daddabbo, Maryanne Felter, Courtney Kasper, Jesse Kline, Anna Marck, Jane Stebbins-Skowron, Tracy Verrier, Rhonda Zahn, and the many others whose reinforcement meant a whole lot!
